Rosie Winterton, Labour PPC for Doncaster Central visited Talking Tots Doncaster at Cantley Community Centre on Goodison Boulevard, Cantley, Doncaster today.

Rosie joined in the morning’s session and met with parents.  Rosie says

 “I was delighted to have been invited along to meet with local families who are benefiting from the Talking Tots classes.  Being able to communicate clearly and confidently can make a real difference to a child’s progress in learning and from this month every local authority in England will be receiving funding for the ‘ECaT’ programme.”

In 2008 the Government introduced ‘Every Child a Talker’ (ECaT) a programme aimed at improving children’s early language development and increasing parental understanding and involvement in their children’s early communication. The funding has promoted cooperation between local services to support children experiencing and at risk of language delay and will help early years settings to create a language rich environment for pre-school children, boosting early communication. From April 2010, all local authorities in England will have been funded to run the programme.

Come and meet me (Bev!) and learn more about Talking Tots sessions on Thursday 26th November at the Parish Room in Tickhill.  Mince pies and mulled wine are being served, you can browse the craft stalls ...and the village Christmas Lights will be switched on too!

New 'Talking Tots' sessions have recently been launched at Denaby Surestart Children's Centre.

Photos were taken at a recent session to promote the classes in the community... As you can see, we all seem to be having a lot of fun!
